On his knees, he really explains he really wants to help her but that's the best he can do. This all sounds reasonable, so she calms down and they begin staging the execution: she lets him put her onto the guillotine and strap her. He closes the lunette around her neck and moves closer to the release handle. That's when he's supposed to fake a technical failure, and he keeps reassuring her. She doesn't have the time to even notice that the blade has dropped, and in an instant her head gets cut off and rolls into the basket. The body squirms, headless, and one leg falls off the plank.
